Marriage Policy
In our churches we uphold the traditional teaching of the Church about marriage, that it is a gift of God in creation and a means of grace and it should always be undertaken as a lifelong commitment.
We marry couples in either of our Churches provided they meet the residence requirements or have qualifying connections with one of our Churches. Couples are strongly encouraged to share in our marriage preparation.
The clergy currently in the Benefice have been willing to offer remarriage to a divorced party where neither party has been complicit in the breakdown of the other’s marriage. We will also offer the Service of Prayer and Dedication after a Civil Marriage providing the relationship in question did not begin before a previous marriage ended.
